What Walkers Say

Real experiences from our walks in Dorset

There’s no better way to understand what Talkthewalks is all about than hearing from the people who’ve experienced it.

From first time walkers to regulars, each journey is about more than just the route, it’s about connection, confidence and shared moments along the way.

“Claire’s walks are informative, well organised and most of all fun! She goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome. I thoroughly recommend joining one of her walks to chat, walk, laugh and enjoy the great outdoors.”

*“I can thoroughly recommend Claire and Talkthewalks. I’ve attended several group walks and have been impressed with Claire’s extensive local knowledge and her passion for walking in the area.

You feel confident she knows her stuff and will keep you safe, with her medical background and training in leading walks and hikes.

She’s also very personable and her walks attract friendly people, so there is always someone to chat to — which definitely helps take your mind off some of the hills!”*

“I had a lovely walk with Claire. The route had been carefully planned and Claire shared where we were heading. The pace was relaxed and we stopped whenever needed, with plenty of time to enjoy the views and take photographs.

Definitely recommend and I hope to join again.

Claire is an experienced walk leader. I’ve been on numerous walks and hikes with her across West Dorset and further afield, including Snowdon and Cader Idris.

Claire plans carefully and makes sure walkers are well informed about the route and terrain, encouraging people to build their fitness at their own pace. Safety is always a priority and walks are adapted if conditions require it.

You can always expect an enjoyable walk, great company and often a pub stop at the end. Car sharing is encouraged — and laughter is guaranteed!”

I enjoyed a perfect walk organised by Claire (Talkthewalks) which definitely got the heart pumping! Starting at Worth Matravers and heading down to Chapman’s Pool, we climbed past the Marine Memorial and continued along the coast past St Aldhelm’s Chapel to Winspit Quarry.

The walk finished at one of my favourite spots, the Square and Compass, for one of their famous pasties and a cider.

Great day, great company, beautiful sunshine and stunning views.
